My 88×31-pixel buttons!

Introduction

88×31-pixel buttons created by me with GNU Image Manipulation Program. I don't reserve any rights to them, but the buttons based on others' work may come with their own licenses.

Unless otherwise mentioned, the buttons only use colours from the 216-colour web-safe palette (Wikipedia). They are more likely to display correctly on ancient computers.

Pronouns

Third-person pronouns in retro PC fonts. See also Appendix: fonts used. Source for neopronouns: Pronouns.page. Some buttons have variants with transgender, intersex or nonbinary background.

CGA

Pronouns in the CGA font. All texts have the authentic 5:12 pixel aspect ratio except for “they/them” which has been squished horizontally.

EGA

Pronouns in the EGA font. Texts with seven characters or less (“she/her” etc.) have the authentic 35:48 pixel aspect ratio; the rest have been squished horizontally.

VGA

Pronouns in the VGA font. Only the buttons with six characters or less (“he/him” etc.) have the authentic 20:27 pixel aspect ratio; the rest have been squished horizontally.

Pixel-perfect versions

The same buttons as above, before they were horizontally stretched to their authentic aspect ratio. You probably don't need these unless you're creating new buttons yourself.

Appendix: fonts used

I used these fonts in some of my buttons. They're probably familiar from old IBM PC compatible computers. They're based on screenshots of DOSBox. Each image shows the printable ASCII characters (0x20…0x7e).

Original fonts in pixel aspect ratio 1:1:

I think these are the authentic pixel aspect ratios for each font:

• CGA: 5:12 or approximately 0.42 (assuming 640×200 pixels on a 4:3 screen)
• EGA: 35:48 or approximately 0.73 (assuming 640×350 pixels on a 4:3 screen)
• VGA: 20:27 or approximately 0.74 (assuming 720×400 pixels on a 4:3 screen)
